About Our Courses
Parkwood Throwing Courses was established in 2017. We currently run the following courses:
Two-Day Weekend Throwing Courses
Throwing Refresher Days
Pottery Taster Days

Our courses take place at Derbyshire Eco Centre, near Wirksworth in Derbyshire - the workshop is spacious, light, well-equipped and fully accessible.
The cost of all our courses includes all clay used, the use of materials and equipment (including throwing aprons) and firing/glazing of your pots (4 or 2 pots, depending on which course you attend).
We provide a selection of hot drinks as well as home-made cake - if your course runs over a full day, you can either bring your own lunch or purchase something delicious from the lovely café in The National Stone Centre next to Derbyshire Eco Centre.
PLEASE NOTE - Parkwood Throwing Courses is a privately run business and is not part of Derbyshire County Council Adult Education.
FIRING, GLAZING AND COLLECTING YOUR POTS
The aim of our courses is to develop your skills, rather than to make lots of pots to take home - however, limited firing and glazing is included as outlined below.
Two-Day Weekend Throwing Courses - we will fire up to four of your pots - you can choose a clear or white glaze.
Throwing Refresher Days - we will fire up to two of your pots - you can choose a clear or white glaze.
General Pottery Taster Days - we will fire up to two of your pots - you can choose a clear or white glaze.
1:1 Throwing Lessons - TBC
We will contact you directly regarding collection of your finished pots. This will be approximately 6 weeks after the course date.
